QUESTION (40 Marks)

Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, is facing rapid urbanization and population growth, leading to increased transport demands. The city's transport system is characterized by High dependence on private vehicles and motorcycles (bodas), Inadequate public transport infrastructure, Congested roads and traffic jams, Limited pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure and Environmental concerns (air pollution, noise).

Required.

a)      Analyze the above-mentioned urban transport challenges in Kampala and propose innovative solutions to address these challenges. In your analysis indicate the root cause of the transport challenges in Kampala, How the current transport systems and infrastructure contribute to these challenges.                             (20 Marks)

b)      What are the social, economic, and environmental impacts of these challenges to the people living in Kampala capital City?                                        (10 Marks)

c)      What potential solutions could address these challenges and what are the likely benefits and drawbacks of each of the solutions provided.          (10 Marks)
